Description

Adenosine Deaminase test is for people suffering from:
Symptoms of TB like coughing, and/or difficulty breathing, suspect of tuberculosis. Tuberculosis that has spread to the pleurae (lining around the lungs)


Main purpose of the Adenosine Deaminase test:

To help detect or rule out a Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in pleural fluid in order to help in the diagnosis of tuberculosis
Rarely to detect the infection in other body fluids like peritoneal fluid or cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)

Sample Required:
A volume of pleural fluid or other fluid collected by a healthcare practitioner
